FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Heritage Co-op contributes an additional $10,000 to the Squirrel Hills Trail Park

July 8, 2024 — Valley Life Recreation is honoured to share that Heritage Co-op has made another significant contribution toward the Squirrel Hills Trail Park in the amount of $10,000!

Heritage Co-op has long been a supporter of our vision for the Squirrel Hills Trail Park. They were our first major financial contributor in 2021 when funding was needed for conceptual design plans, prior to our public announcement of plans for the park. Now, 3 years later and with a park that is on the home stretch to being completed, they have stepped up again with another contribution, bringing their total trail park investment to $16,000.

Local support from valuable partners like Heritage Co-op is what makes community happen. Because of support like this, Minnedosa hosted it’s first ever provincial mountain bike race in June which saw more than 100 racers and their families travel to our community from across Manitoba. Minnedosa’s first pride event, Trail Pride, also took place at the Squirrel Hills Trail Park last month. This is how vibrant communities are built.

After multiple failed starts due to rain and excessive spring moisture, construction on the brand new trailhead for the trail park is now underway with a dramatic transformation expected there over the coming 30 days. Again, we can only do this with community support and we thank Heritage Co-op so much for standing behind the Squirrel Hills Trail Park in this way.

Valley Life Recreation is now seeking an additional $14,000 in funding to secure the installation of bathrooms at the new Squirrel Hills Trail Park trailhead now under construction (two stalls, one regular and one accessible). If you or someone you know would like to help make Minnedosa’s newest outdoor attraction that much more inclusive for everyone, please contact us to discuss a contribution. All personal donations are 100% tax deductible.

Once again, our deepest appreciation to Heritage Co-op for this new $10,000 contribution. This brings the total funding raised for the Squirrel Hills Trail Park to over $700,000 with incredible excitement and optimism moving us forward as this project slowly inches toward its fundraising and construction goals. If you’d like to help us get to the finish line, please contact us.
